Two hundred fifty years of slavery. Ninety years of Jim Crow. Sixty years of separate but equal. Thirty-five years of racist housing policy. Until we reckon with our compounding moral debts, America will never be whole.
This article, The Case For Reparations, is a stark reminder and the most comprehensive writing that clearly shows how black achievement was stymied from the time we were brought to America and kept enslaved for hundreds of years.
It should be required reading for everyone. We commend Bro. Ta-nehisi Coates for his tremendous insight, and for shining a light on a dark and tragic period of American history as we do every day of our lives. We must continue to learn the lessons of slavery as well as African American history “Lest We Forget”.
